The Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson is urging his party faithful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to manage their expectations from the government.

Regarding ongoing appointments in the newly sworn-in expectations, the Minister says many are having different expectations and should know it will come on a gradual basis.

Speaking to party members after a thanksgiving service at Makadarios Church in Takoradi Sunday, February 16, 2025, Mr. Nelson assured members of his commitment to the region’s development and well being of its residents.

According to him, if they don’t manage their expectations and start making complaints few months after the government’s takeover, the opposition will capitalise on it to accuse them.

“We all have expectations so we need to manage our expectations. A few of you who have been to my office just last week, I told you that we will not all have our expectations [met] overnight but it will be gradual. So if we don’t manage it well, we’ll destroy what we struggled to build ourselves,” he urged.

“If after two months we are not able get what we want, and complain of being neglected, then our own words will give our opponents the opportunity to castigate us to encourage themselves,” he further advised.

He further assured them of the region’s progress which is a priority to him.

“Every development we are supposed to undertake [in the region] are as important to me as your expectations because they are all human-centered and I want to assure you that, I’ve been Regional Secretary for three terms and I’m not the one to disgrace the NDC in this region,” he assured.

Meanwhile, the five new Members of Parliament from the NDC in the Western Region have promised their support for the Western regional development agenda.
