Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has been named by President John Dramani Mahama to serve on the Governing Board of the Bank of Ghana (BoG).
He is to serve with 11 other members including the Governor, his 1st Deputy and nine (9) other members.
The lawmaker, having served previously as Financial Consultant at the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development; Lead Consultant at Redline Technical Solution and also working at Kingdom Group Ghana Limited as its Chief Finance Officer, he comes on the Board with a wealth of experience to help push the central bank’s mandate.
Adongo has also served as the Ranking Member on the Finance Committee of Parliament from December 2023 to January 07, 2025.
In a statement signed and issued by the Minister of Government Communications and Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu Wednesday, February 26, 2025, he noted that the appointment was made in fulfillment of a provision in the constitution.
“President John Dramani Mahama has, in consultation with the Council of State and in accordance with Article 70(1)(d)(iii) of the Constitution and Section 8 of the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002 (Act 612) as amended by the Bank of Ghana (Amendment) Act, 2016 (Act 918),” portions of the statement contained.
Also appointed together with the Governor, Dr. Johnson Pandit Kwesi Asiama, who chairs the Board, are Thomas Nyarko Ampem, Deputy Minister of Finance, Dr. Zakari Mumuni, the 1st Deputy Governor, Beatrice Annangfio, a private legal practitioner and other financial technocrats.
