Organisers of the MTN FA Cup have scheduled to clear the outstanding game between Asante Kotoko and Division One side Sekondi XI Wise on Wednesday, March 12.

The Round of 16 will be played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

This was announced following the revocation of a decision by Asante Kotoko to stay away from any competitive games following the death of their fan, Francis Yaw Frimpong.

Popularly known as Nana Pooley, Yaw Frimpong was stabbed to death after a Ghana Premier League game between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC.

Management of the Porcupine Warriors consequently announced a suspension of all football-related activities on Monday, demanding justice to be served by at least finding the killers.

On Monday, February 24, the club expressed satisfaction with the progress of investigations so far and the measures taken by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to enhance security at match venues.

Asante Kotoko finally confirm return to competitive football

With this announcement, organisers rescheduled the Round of 16 encounter, which was originally scheduled for Sunday, February 23.

So far, four Division One sides – Attram DeVisser, Goldenkick, PAC Academy and True Democracy – have made it to the quarter finals.

Therefore, a win for Asante Kotoko will balance the number of Ghana Premier League in the last 8 stage.
