Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu says the senior national men’s soccer team cannot afford to drop points in their next two FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana are scheduled to play Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21 before taking on Madagascar at Stade Mimoun Al Arsi in Al Hoceima in Morocco three days later.
It will be the first outing of the team in 2025.
Speaking in an interview on Agoro Fie on Onua TV a few hours after Coach Otto Addo released his squad, Agyemang-Badu said he considers the two games ‘Operation Six Points’.
He said with the injury list of the team growing, the team looks new in a new year.
“We are in a new era, new year and I will say new Black Stars as I am expecting,” he remarked.
“The support that they always seek will be given to them in order to qualify to the World Cup, so I have named the matches ‘Operation Six Points’ [and] that we all support in every way for them to get the points to be in good standing.”
He said the call-ups by Otto Addo is not that bad, urging calm and support from football enthusiasts.
Ghana currently lie second in Group I with nine points behind Comoros, who are on the same points.
