Stand-in Captain of the Black Stars Jordan Pierre Ayew has assured fans that the team will achieve the goal of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be held in USA, Canada and Mexico.

“We’re not giving up! We’re focused on the task ahead, and we’re confident that together, we can achieve our goal.”

The Leicester City forward expressed this in a message issued after Ghana’s twin triumphs in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

A Jordan Ayew-led Black Stars beat Chad 5-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium before becoming 3-0 away winners over Madagascar in Morocco to go top of Group I.

The former Aston Villa player, on behalf of his teammates, thanked “incredible” Ghanaian fans for their “unwavering support”.

“Your infectious energy, passion, and loyalty inspire us, and we’re deeply honoured to represent this great nation.”

The Stars had failed to win a match in 2024, missing out on qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

This brought the team enormous pressure with authorities making changes to the management committee and technical teams.

“Although we faced challenges in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, we’re committed to turning things around and making you proud,” Ayew promised.

He added: “We’re working diligently to enhance our game, ensuring we secure the necessary results in the remaining matches to qualify for the World Cup.”
