The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation have accepted an arrangement to have an interim technical team in charge of the Black Stars for next month’s international break.
The arrangement follows recommendations by the Black Stars Coach search committee after the dismissal of Carlos Quieroz.
“Following an extensive review process and consultations with a number of qualified coaching candidates, the Committee determined that the most effective approach for this important period was the appointment of a complementary technical team capable of providing continuity, experienced leadership, and a strategic direction as the Black Stars navigate an important period of transition and renewal,” a statement jointly issued by the Committee, GFA and the Ministry said.
The interim technical team will be led by Kim Lars Björkegren, who will work alongside Medeama SC coach and former striker Ibrahim Tanko as well as Godwin Attram, who will serve as Assistant Coaches.
Fatawu Dauda will serve as Goalkeepers Coach.
According to the statement, this arrangement brings together “a strong blend of international experience, local knowledge, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of the Ghanaian football landscape”.
“The complementarity of their backgrounds and skill sets will provide the leadership and support required to prepare the team effectively for the upcoming fixtures.”
Additionally, there will be multidisciplinary technical and support staff assigned for the assignment against Somalia.
The signatories expressed full assurance that both the Black Stars and Black Queens will get the technical and operational support to meet their needs during this period.
“We call on all Ghanaians to rally behind the team and support the players and technical staff as they prepare to represent the nation.”
