The Ministry of Sports and Recreation and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have agreed on getting a coach for the Black Stars who will be required to stay in Ghana and regularly monitor the domestic league.
As a result, a five-member Technical Search Committee has been constituted to scout for and recommend a new coach for the senior national men’s soccer team.
“The Committee is required to submit its report by Friday, 9 October 2026,” a press statement issued by the Ministry after a crunch meeting with the Executive Council of the GFA said.
The meeting was held with the sector minister, Kofi Iddie Adams, who is also the Member of Parliament Buem Constituency.
The meeting also agreed on far-reaching measures to revive the performance of the various national teams.
“A technical head will be appointed to coordinate the U15, U17 and U20 development pathway with each team having its dedicated technical team, including appropriate competition structures and player progression.”
All management committees of the various national teams will be reduced from five to three.
A Public Interest Committee will also be set up by the GFA in collaboration with the Ministry “to supervise and coordinate implementation of the reforms”.
The crunch meeting was occasioned by the 2-4 defeat of the Black Stars by The Gambia last Tuesday and the consequent departure of Carlos Queiroz.
The Ministry assured Ghanaians that their concerns will remain central to every process to revive Ghana football.
