Aduana FC’s International Relations Director, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, has expressed interest to contest the Presidency of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

“I am also going to contest because we have realised how bad things are going with Ghana football,” he stated on Agoro Fie on Onua TV on Tuesday, October 20.

The former Black Stars midfielder expressed his interest while talking about reports that former teammate Andre Dede Ayew could be contesting for the role following swelling support from some quarters for him.

He admonished his captain at the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup to make his ambitions clear regarding his goals for the administration of sport in this country if he is interested in leading.

“If I am contesting, I will make it clear that in the first three years, I may not achieve anything significant or even qualify the national team to a major tournament but after four years when hope may have been lost in me, things would be better.”

But the former Udinese midfielder admitted that there is a vast difference between character on the field of play and the sport’s administration.

“For instance, while playing, some cheered me on into coaching but I always told them I needed to learn the emotional side of coaching. It’s different from me playing football on the field, so I will completely fail if I take my football lifestyle into coaching.

“So, there is a slight difference between between football play and administration.”

He concluded by stressing that just like he is not surprised Dede Ayew is being tipped for the role, it should not come as a surprise when he throws in his bid to officially contest for the position.

“Some test the waters by declaring interest but some of us are quiet. We are also interested and more dangerous and should not be underestimated.”

Agyemang-Badu was last year named a member of the Management Committee of the Black Galaxies.
