The immediate past Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Samuel Dubik Masubir Mahama, has expressed disappointment over being left out of the investigation into the company’s missing containers.
Despite writing to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to inquire about the auctioning of the containers, he has disclosed that he received no response.
According to Mahama, the committee probing the issue did not give him the opportunity to share his knowledge, even though his intention was to support the sector minister in resolving the matter.
He says he found it unfair that he was mentioned in the committee’s report without being consulted.
Speaking on Ghana Tonight on TV3 Wednesday, March 02, 2025, Mr. Mahama stated that he never had the opportunity to share what he knows about the brouhaha leaving room for the public to make their own conclusions.
“Our approach to the issue is to help the Minister find these containers. As I sit here, the committee completed the job without speaking to me, yet I am named in the Committee’s report,” he complained.
Despite the Committee speaking to some Directors at the ECG, Mr. Mahama says it is not right for him to be mentioned in the report without being spoken to.
“You spoke to the Directors, yet you mentioned somebody who wasn’t present.”
He also disclosed that although most of the issues discussed in the report occurred under his tenure, some happened after he had exited office on September 25, 2025.

“There are a few issues discussed in the report, some contracts discussed in the report that were not signed by me. I was not in the office. I have decided not to speak to the Committee’s report because I want us to fully appreciate the conversation concerning these containers,” he added.
His lamentations follow the arrest of 12 Chinese nationals and a Ghanaian by operatives of the National Security in connection with the missing containers.
The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor, has since been tasked with compiling a comprehensive report on the matter.
He has therefore directed that the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) looks into the circumstances leading to the auctioning of the containers to help bring the perpetrators to book.
