The Chief Executive Officer of the Boris B farms, Dr Boris Baidoo (Boris B) has lauded President Mahama on his initiative to revitalizing poultry sector in the country.
Dr Baidoo, who is also the National Vice-President of the Poultry Farmers Association, said the initiative will give hope to the sector players.
President John Dramani Mahama’s Poultry Revitalization Program, also known as “Nkoko Nkitinkiti,” aims to boost Ghana’s poultry industry by supporting 50 anchor farmers to produce 4 million birds, equivalent to 10,000 metric tons of chicken.
This initiative is part of the broader Feed Ghana Programme, which focuses on enhancing food production, guaranteeing food security, and supplying raw materials to industries.
Ghana currently imports around $400 million worth of chicken annually. The program aims to reverse this trend by increasing local production.
Speaking on Ghanakoma morning show on Akoma 87.9FM in Kumasi with Sir John, Dr Baidoo said the 50 commercial poultry farmers that will be registered and supported to meet the target production of 4 million birds annually is on right direction.
He stated under the project 55,000 households will be registered nationwide to raise 500 birds each year, producing over 1 million additional birds annually.
He pointed out that the program aims to empower women and improve household nutrition by increasing access to protein-rich food.
Mr Baidoo called on all to embrace the project to save the poultry sector from Collapsing.
“I want to take advantage of your platform to call on all Ghanaians to support this initiative. I’m confident that this initiative will help bring hope into the poultry sector. The survival of the Poultry sector depends on all of us and this is the time to support the sector to grow,” he urged on April 17.
He pledged the support of all poultry farmers in the country for the programme and advised Ghanaians to do away with politics on this laudable initiative.
