Head Coach of the Black Satellites Desmond Sakyi Ofei says the team is not resting on its oars ahead of the last group game at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) despite qualifying for the next stage.

According to him, the team approaches each and every game with all seriousness to, among others, boost the morale of the players.

The Satellites are yet to lose at the ongoing tournament after drawing 1-1 with DR Congo in their opener and beat ing defending champions Senegal 1-0

in their second game.

With four points, the four-time champions were confirmed as qualified for the quarter-finals despite having a match on Thursday to play.

Ahead of that match against Central African Republic, Coach Ofei says the team is not withdrawing its potent force.

“We don’t want to look far to be honest because every game is important and crucial for momentum sake, injury prevention and even in cuts so we don’t want to think too far ahead,” he said.

“We approach every game with all seriousness and the same level of preparations and also due to the respect of the opponent. We have to respect every opponent.”

Ghana play CAR but will be without main man Jerry Afriyie, who has returned to his club in Spain.

Coach Ofei says the team will miss the CD Lugo player but hopeful he will return soon.

‘We will try and get him back at the right time to help the team. Hopefully, we will not miss him for too long. We expect Jerry [Afriyie] to join us very soon. We are going to make him proud and we will fight for him in his absence.”
