The Black Satellites will have hosts Egypt to beat in order to book a place in the semi-final of the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
This follows Egypt’s 1-0 win over Tanzania in their final Group A game on Friday, May 9.
Ghana had already finished top of Group C and were awaiting the third-placed side of either Group A or Group B, depending on the team that sailed through.
Forward Ahmed Sharaf took advantage of a rebound to score the winner for his side in the first half.
That win put the total point tally for the Egyptians at seven, having won twice and drawn and lost once.
Their qualification behind South Africa and Sierra Leone means they play the first-placed team of Group C in the quarter-finals.
Ghana are yet to lose at the tournament, having drawn against DR Congo in their game and beating Senegal and Central African Republic later in the group.
The quarter-finals on Monday will also see Senegal play Nigeria, DR Congo facing South Africa and Morocco slugging it out with Sierra Leone.
The winners of those games will represent Africa at the FIFA U-20 World Cup to take place in Chile later in the year.
Ghana remain the only African nation to have won that tournament.
