Faith Ladies FC have won their maiden trophy after coming from a goal down in extra time to beat Jonina Ladies 2-1 in the 2024/25 Women’s FA Cup final.
Faith Ladies, who were relegated from the Women’s Premier League, remained determined to keep faith in order to bow out from elite club football with their heads high.
After the two sides failed to find the back of the net, FIFA referee Rita Boateng Nkansah was forced to whistle for 30 additional minutes.
With the rains starting to fall heavily, making the ball difficult to control on the pitch for the players, Joyce Atimbilla managed to get the better part of the situation by drawing first blood for Jonina Ladies.
However, within 60 seconds, Erica Obeng Apreku cancelled the lead.
The game was, however, forced into a temporary hold-up due to the intensity of the showers.
Both teams were later ushered back to the University of Ghana Sports Stadium pitch by referee Boateng Nkansah and Erica took advantage of the soggy pitch to find the winner and her second on the day.
Faith Ladies kept the lead to finish as the new winners of the Women’s FA Cup.
🎥 The winner indeed.
