Heart of Lions goalkeeper Lawrence Osei is biding his time for a national team call-up after his exploits in the just-ended Ghana Premier League.
Osei was in post 31 times for the Kpando-based side from the 34 matches played.
He kept 16 clean sheets, the fourth best in the 2024/25 season.
Asked on Onua TV‘s Agoro Fie on Wednesday, June 11 how this has not translated into a national team call-up, Lawrence Osei said he believes his time will come.
“Definitely you’ve got fans and loved ones who see your performance and want to see you in the national team,” he opened up, citing how many called him seeking answers of his seeming snub when the Black Galaxies failed to qualify for the 2024 Championship of African Nations (CHAN).
“So many messages came, asking why I was not part of that squad but all I told them was ‘God’s time is the best’.
“If you’re playing well, it will get to a time it will take fans to ask that you are called up. So, on my part, I am ready for the opportunity anytime it comes,” he said, adding that he will not relent in working hard.
Lawrence Osei admitted the pride in wearing the national team jersey with family and loved ones watching on television.
“The senior national team is my target,” he minced no words.
He said with his performances he will not be surprised if a call-up comes anytime soon.
