Asante Kotoko’s push to close in on Ghana Premier League leaders Medeama SC suffered a jolt after going 1-3 down to Heart of Lions on Saturday, January 31.
Bashir Hayford, who has recorded mixed results recently, took the game to his former side at the Kpando Sports Stadium.
Seedorf Asante put Lions in the lead in the 35th minute before Ali Fawzi recorded the second goal in injury time in the first half.
Though Karim Zito’s side pulled one back from the spot kind courtesy in-form defender Samba O’Neil, Michael Ephson got a third for the home side.
The win still sees Lions in the 7th position while Kotoko also remained 2nd behind Medeama.
The remaining Matchday 21 games will, however, be played on Sunday with Hearts of Oak and Aduana FC hope to take advantage of the setbacks by Medeama SC and Asante Kotoko.
