Ghanaian anti-graft crusader, Edem Kwami Senanu, has been elected for a six-year second term as Chair of the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption (AUABC).
Mr. Senanu secured 7 out of the 9 total votes to emerge victorious against Cheik Ahmed of Mauritania. This makes him the first Ghanaian to be elected twice for the position.
He has contributed massively towards shaping the corruption narrative in Ghana and beyond. He is Co-Chair of the Citizens Movement Against Corruption, and has been a key advocate against corruption in Ghana.
Profile of Edem Senanu
Mr. Senanu is a management and development consultant who has twenty five (25) years working experience and twenty (20) years out of those are in providing consulting services. Currently, he is a managing consultant for Alpha Primus Ltd., a management and development consulting firm, as well as the executive director for Africa 2000 Network – Ghana, a sustainable livelihoods and public policy advocacy focused – NGO.
He holds a master’s degree in development management (MDM) from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), a BSc in biochemistry and food science from the University of Ghana. In addition, Mr Senanu is a certified project management professional (PMP) of the Project Management Institute, USA and an IFC-LPI certified trainer.
His general areas of expertise are business and entrepreneurship, leadership, emotional intelligence, governance, and, in particular decentralization, social accountability, public policy advocacy, sustainable livelihoods, local economic development, strategic planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
He has been involved in design, management/implementation, monitoring,and evaluation of several projects and provided training and consulting/advisory support to many business concerns and development organizations, such as Anglo-Gold Ashanti, Goldfields Ghana, Tullow Oil Ghana, Chevron Nigeria, UNDP, UNV, UNICEF, DANIDA, UNICEF, CHRAJ, DACF, MOPA, Standard Chartered Bank (Ghana), Barclays ( Ghana), ABSA (Ghana).
Mr. Senanu is currently the board chair for Hydra Offshore ltd., a co-chair for the movement of citizens against corruption, a member of the Global Environment Fund Small Grants – National Steering Committee, and a member of the management committee of the Centre for Migration Studies, University of Ghana.
