The Communications Manager of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), Mohammed Amin Lamptey, has alleged that the Minister of Sports and Recreation has declared non-coperation with President Abraham Kotei Neequaye.

He said he is surprised by the stance of the Minister given the fact that Mr Kotei Neequaye is of the same political stock.

Mr Amin Lamptey disclosed this on Agoro Fie on Onua TV on Wednesday, June 18.

He was speaking on the seeming neglect by the Sports Ministry following the death of Nigerian boxer Gabriel Oluwasegun Olanrewaju in a bout on Sunday, March 30.

The GBA PRO said the Authority was sidelined in all investigation processes with the report still concealed from officials.

He said despite his years of experience, Abraham Kotei Neequaye was sidelined in all these, leaving the GBA to solely foot the bill for the repatriation of the body of the boxer.

“We never had any issues with him as we prepared for our congress,” the seasoned sports broadcaster remarked about the Buem Member of Parliament.

“He was the one who went to town to say he can’t work with Abraham Kotei Neequaye and that has left the GBA President very worried because this is not about politics.

“They are all from the same political party. Abraham Kotei is a former NDC Parliamentary Candidate. This year he was one of the security capos for Greater Accra and one of the foremost persons to look out for the President’s security because he is a security expert and a marketer.”

The GBA Communications Director says they will soon petition the President, John Dramani Mahama, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General as well as the Chief of Staff on some of the issues affecting the operations of the Authority.
