The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, has revealed that efforts are ongoing by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for a final friendly for the Black Stars before the 2026 FIFA World Cup starts on Thursday, June 11.

Addressing journalists in Accra on Tuesday, May 19, Mr Adams said that friendly would be played between Tuesday, June 2 and Wednesday, June 10.

This will add to the two remaining friendlies for the team ahead of the global showpiece.

The 2010 World Cup quarter-finalists began preparations for the upcoming tournament in March, losing 5-1 to Austria on 27th and 2-1 to Germany three days later.

This led to the sacking of Otto Addo as Head Coach.

Barely a month later, Portuguese Carlos Queiroz was named as his replacement.

The former Iran coach will handle the remaining friendlies including Friday’s against 2026 FIFA World Cup co-hosts Mexico.

After that game, the Black Stars were to play Wales on Tuesday, June 2 in what would have been their final game until Mr Adams’ announcement on Tuesday.
