The Black Queens were on Sunday beaten 3-1 by their Nigerian counterparts in their final test game ahead of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Ghana had won their first two test games ahead of the Cup of Nations, which begins on Saturday, July 5, after beating Malawi 3-1

and Benin 4-2.

After over half-an-hour of play at Benslimane, Ghana buckled under pressure to concede an own goal in the 34th minute.

A penalty awarded Africa’s record champions after 10 minutes put the scoreline 2-0 before the break.

The Super Falcons came from the interval to score a third, putting the game beyond their West African neighbours.

After Evelyn Badu’s effort to reduce the deficit was ruled out for offside, Alice Kusi was luckier as her goal counted to pull one back for the Ghanaians.

The game ended 3-1 in favour of the nine-time African champions.

Both nations used the friendly to wrap up preparations for the 15th edition of the tournament.

Nigeria will begin their Group B campaign against Tunisia on Sunday, July 6 while Ghana will face champions South Africa in a Group C opener on Monday.
