The Black Queens are set to battle neighbours Ivory Coast for one of the two places reserved for Africa at the Intercontinental Play-offs for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Ghana dropped to the CAF play-offs after losing 2-1 to Malawi on Sunday in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah scored as early as the seventh minute but Temwa Chawina equalised five minutes later.
Rose Kadzere’s deflected shot ended up in Cynthia Konlan’s goal, putting the match beyond the Queens and giving Malawi the greenlight not only to the semi-finals of the tournament but also one of the four automatic tickets for Brazil 2027.
Thursday’s match between Ghana and Ivory Coast will be played at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.
Nigeria and South Africa will also slug it out for the other place.
