In a major drug interception operation, the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has seized 738 compressed parcels of a substance suspected to be cannabis at the Swissport Terminal in Accra on July 5.

The contraband, cleverly concealed in rubber polythene bags within 40 boxes falsely declared as assorted food items, was en route to the United Kingdom.

Two individuals have been arrested to aid in investigations, while two other suspects—Lincoln Nii OKAIJA (DOB: 27 Mar 1979) and Kate DAVIDSON, alias “Esi”—remain at large and have been declared wanted by NACOC.

Authorities urge the public to assist with any information that may lead to their capture.

In another development, NACOC on June 24 conducted a major operation in the Eastern Region, targeting illegal drug activities in Akyem Oda and Akroso. During the raid, 14 suspects were arrested in connection with the possession and distribution of illegal drugs.

The swift operation carried out followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance on suspected individuals and businesses.

As part of the crackdown, three licensed chemical stores were shut down after being found to be selling unregistered and controlled substances without proper authorization.

Large quantities of illegal drugs and suspicious pharmaceutical products such as red and cannabis among others were seized during the exercise.

NACOC officials have assured the public of continued efforts to dismantle drug networks across the country, while urging residents to report any suspicious drug-related activities in their communities.
