The 17th edition of the PANAFEST and Emancipation Day celebrations are expected to kick start on July 18, 2025, to August 2, 2025, across the country.

This year’s edition is under the theme: “Let us speak of Reparation Justice – Pan African Artistic Activism”.

It was launched by the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie on June 24, 2025.

PANAFEST and Emancipation Day is held in Ghana to rekindle the flame of unity and Pan-Africanism among black people globally.

While PANAFEST is celebrated biennially, Emancipation Day is celebrated annually.

A statement signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs at the GTA, Bright Asempa Tsadidey, said “under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), the team will first visit the Slave Route Pilgrimage, Salaga Atonement Ceremonies, hold a lecture on emancipation In Tamale and a durbar at Pikworo on July 18, 2025”.

The statement said, “the event will continue to August 1, where the Emancipation Day will be celebrated at Cape Coast in the Central Region”.

Mr. Tsadidey is urging Ghanaians to participate in all their activities to make this year’s celebrations a memorable one.
