The Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, has directed for probe into the latest insurgency in Bawku which occurred on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

The thorough investigation sought by the Minister was announced on his official Facebook page on Monday, July 14, 2025, as part of the government’s renewed efforts to restore sanity in the area.

In the statement, the Minister admonished all parties to exercise restraint whiles investigations take place.

“We are, once again, urging restraint and calm in Bawku regarding the latest developments as of yesterday,” he posted.

Bawku has seen prolonged violence for many years with several lives and properties being destroyed. The Minister’s plea comes on the back of the renewed tensions in the area.

The Defence Minister confirmed that he had ordered a detailed probe into the matter and assured the public of prompt action once findings are available.

“I have directed thorough investigations into the recent matter and promised to take swift action based on recommendations,” he said.

He emphasised the importance of a fact-based response to avoid escalating tensions further.

Dr Boamah concluded his statement with another call for calm, stating, “Once again, let us ensure restraint!”
