Minister for Interior, Muhammed Muntaka Mubarak has assured Ghanaians that the NDC government will not condone any act of vigilantism following the chaos recorded during the Ablekuma North rerun.
Addressing the media on Monday, July 14, 2025 he said the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has been directed to swiftly investigate the chaos and violent acts at Ablekuma North and bring the perpetrators to book.
“All of us need to be mindful about the activities of vigilantism and I can assure that not my party, not any group will sit and allow to see the insurgence of vigilantism.
“I have spoken to the IGP firmly on all the happenings of Ablekuma North, the videos have been forwarded to him and we’ve instructed him to swiftly bring the perpetrators to book,” he said.
The Minister stressed that government will not let the perpetrators go unpunished, while trusting the IGP to ensure justice.
“We are not going to condone whether people within our party or other party into going round doing anything untoward. We can assure the public that under the leadership of President Mahama no such group will be allowed to be formed.
“We are not going to allow this to go unpunished unless they flee the country. The law will have to take its course and I trust in the professionalism of the IGP and his team that they are going to do a good job,” he added.
It is recalled that the voting process at the Odorkor Methodist 1 polling station was suspended after chaos erupted during the Ablekuma North rerun in 19 polling stations.
