President John Dramani Mahama has said contractors who received double payments for same work in the Akufo-Addo era will face the full rigours of the law.
He says an audit conducted by the Auditor-General revealed irregularities in payment records involving those multiple payments.
The President, speaking at his ‘Thank You’ tour in the Eastern region on Saturday, July 19, 2025, disclosed that those implicated in the report will be dealt with according to the law.
“Contractors found to have received unjustified multiple payments will face legal consequences. The discrepancies revealed by the audit will be addressed strictly according to the law,” he stated.
He explained that, as part of the punishment for those contractors, they will not return to site to resume their stalled projects.
Mahama informed the traditional leaders and residents that his administration was committed to revitalising infrastructural projects across the country to meet critical needs.
He assured the public that roads left abandoned by the previous administration would be completed, alongside new projects, as part of his broader development agenda.
As part of the “Big Push” agenda, the President announced that his administration will construct a modern bridge over the Afram River in the Eastern region.
The bridge, he noted, is intended to enhance connectivity and ease transportation challenges for residents, particularly farmers who rely on the route to transport their produce to market.
“We are committed to finishing what was left undone and bringing new development that will transform lives, especially for those in our farming communities,” Mahama assured.
