Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, is seeking urgent government intervention to rehabilitate 38 priority roads covering approximately 411.5 kilometres in the constituency.
The roads, she says, remain the most urgent development challenge affecting education, healthcare delivery, agriculture, business and emergency response.
The MP made the request in her Amenfi Central Integrated Development Proposal submitted to government for consideration by the Ministry of Roads and Highways and its agencies.
She listed the Humgebire (Gate)-Juabo-Wuratrem-Wassa Akropong road of 55km, the Pensanom-Obeng-Anakum-Amuni-Dwirigum-Fuleso road of 52.4km and the Manso Amenfi-Adidaase-Aku Nkwanta-Antobam-Akyeakrom road of 34km among the major priority routes.
Other critical roads captured in the proposal include the Kwamang-Manukrom-Nkwatanan road of 25km, Kwabeng Jn-Kofi Gyan-Kyeikrom-Ashiam road of 19.2km, Agona Amenfi-Agona Camp Bredi and Agona Amenfi-Bredi-Nyinanyin roads of 16km each, and the Wuratrem-Ankasie-Agona Amenfi road of 13.5km.
The document also includes the Dominase-Nkwanta-Kokonkyea-Agyakamanso road, Agyakaamanso-Anomatoa road, Broni Nkwanta-Prestea road and the Assembly Junction-Esanhu-Beposo inner roads of the Manso Amenfi Technical Institute.
She has asked the Ghana Highway Authority and the Department of Feeder Roads to verify all measurements and route descriptions before implementation and to group projects into immediate, short-term, medium-term and long-term priorities.
The MP says the road interventions are critical to unlocking the agricultural, mining and commercial potential of Amenfi Central and to support her broader agenda of providing reliable electricity, telecom coverage, quality education and accessible healthcare to over 40 communities still facing basic infrastructure deficits.
