Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has appealed for a coordinated government intervention to transform the constituency through integrated infrastructural development.
The proposal brings together development needs in roads, education, healthcare, electricity, telecommunications, water, sanitation, agriculture, markets, youth employment and ICT into one comprehensive framework for government consideration.
The MP made the appeal in a comprehensive development proposal titled “Amenfi Central Integrated Development Proposal” submitted to the government.
She attributed the move to serious development challenges that have persisted in several communities for several decades, with some dating as far back as 1992.
The document identifies 30 priority communities including Agona Amenfi, Manso Amenfi, Wassa Bekwai, Agona Dominase, Ankasie, Hiawa, Kwamang, Achichere, Wratrem, K. Boateng, Anyinabrim and Congo Bisco.
It, however, notes that the listed communities should not be viewed as the only communities requiring development, but as priority locations already documented by her office while the wider constituency should be assessed comprehensively.
Beyond roads, the MP seeks a comprehensive education development programme covering new KG, primary and JHS blocks, completion of abandoned projects, teachers’ accommodation, ICT and science laboratories, and establishment of additional Senior High Schools, a College of Education and a Nursing Training institution.
She also requests healthcare interventions including CHPS compounds, health centres, hospital development where justified, laboratories, maternity units, ambulances and staff accommodation, as well as clean water, sanitation, modern markets and agricultural infrastructure.
The proposal further asks government to establish a technical assessment team to visit the communities, verify infrastructure gaps, identify projects already captured in government programmes and prioritise urgent interventions.
The MP says her office is prepared to work with Government, Ministries, Departments, Agencies, the District Assembly, traditional authorities and development partners to move the projects from identification to implementation.
