Black Queens skipper Portia Boakye and midfielder Grace Asantewaa have been named in the Best XI of the just-ended Women’s Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco.

Boakye, who steeled the defence of the Queens as they won Bronze, was named alongside Bambanani Mbane as the central defenders.

Asantewaa, who won the Player of the Match in Ghana’s quarter-final win over Algeria, also made it as one of three midfielders named by the Technical Study Group.

Nigeria goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, who was also named the Best Goalkeeper at the tournament, was named the goalkeeper of the Best XI.

Her compatriot Michelle Alozie and South African Karabo Dhlamini were the other defenders named in the Best XI.

Aside Asantewaa, Banyana Banyana’s Refiloe Jane and Golden Boot winner Ghizlane Chebbak were the midfielders named.

The strikers are Golden Ball winner Rashidat Ajibade and her compatriot Esther Okoronkwo as well as Moroccan Ibtissam Jraidi.
