A 41-year-old man, Wahibu Bukari, has shot his 35-year-old wife, Faustina Ackom, on Sunday, August 17, 2025, on suspicion of infidelity, at Anum in the Assin North district of the Central region.

She was shot during a dispute with the husband over infidelity allegations, sustaining injuries on her breast, inner left arm, and currently receiving treatment at the St Francis Xavier Hospital at Assin Fosu.

Bukari and Faustina have been married for 10 years with four children. Eyewitnesses say they heard Faustina screaming for help around 1:00am on Sunday.

One of the eyewitnesses, Lydia Yeboah, said the suspect has been sick for some time now and suspected the wife, who is a trader, to be cheating on him, resulting in the scuffle that eventually led to the shooting.

Bukari was said to have found some phone numbers on his wife’s phone and woke her up around 12:30 am on Sunday to question her since he suspected the wife was cheating on him with the people behind those phone numbers.

During the argument, witnesses revealed that Bukari allegedly shot her in the left arm and breast when the wife attempted fleeing the scene.

Her cry for help attracted the attention of neighbours who rushed to the scene to offer her some help.

Bukari, after shooting the wife, fled the scene immediately and is currently on the run.

Residents believe Bukari could be hiding in Assin Fosu, Kushea, or Twifo Praso.

Police investigations are underway.

A team from the Assin Fosu Divisional Police Command has visited the victim at the hospital to assess the extent of her injuries and gather firsthand information.
