The Accra Regional Police Command has charged eight persons arrested for disturbances during the Ablekuma North rerun with violence. All eight have been convicted for assault.
The eight accused persons were arraigned before the Circuit Court in Accra on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
A statement issued by the police on Tuesday said all eight accused persons pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit crime, to wit: assault and assault contrary to sections 23(1) and 84 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
The accused persons are Mohammed Abubakari, 32, a Private Security Officer; Tijani Mahamudu, 38, a Driver; Prince Dzakpasu, 39, a Businessman; Anas Mohammed, 42, an Estate Developer; Mohammed Hamda, 35, a Mechanic; Darko Otibu Samuel, 33, a Businessman; Musah Muntari, 46, a Station Manager; and Ali Saeed alias Bomba, 43, a Businessman.
The case has been adjourned to August 29, 2025 for sentencing. Each accused person has been granted bail in the sum of GH₵80,000.00 with one surety.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno disclosed on August 20 that eight suspects have been arrested in connection with the assaults and violence which marred the recently held Ablekuma North constituency rerun elections.
Three journalists, some political figures including former Gender Minister, Hawa Koomson were assaulted during the Ablekuma North election rerun in 19 polling stations on July 11, 2025.
The public, media, and civil society organizations have all strongly condemned the rerun, which was marred by violent scenes.
Videos online captured alleged party agents attacking civilians and onlookers with many demanding accountability and justice.
Bu the IGP assured that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
