Your Excellency,

I write this letter with a heavy heart and a clear purpose. In recent times I have experienced the loss of my auntie, my cousin, my sister, my father and my mother because of medical negligence rather than incurable diseases or tragic accidents.

These were preventable deaths. Each one a painful reminder of the systemic failures within our healthcare system.

I am not alone. Many families throughout Ghana suffer in secret because of preventable medical mistakes and delayed care and violations of fundamental medical procedures.
These are not isolated incidents. The symptoms indicate a severe crisis which requires immediate national focus.

Medical negligence is not a mistake. It is a failure of duty. And it is costing lives.
Your Excellency, I respectfully urge your office to treat this issue with the seriousness it deserves. We need:

• Robust oversight and accountability mechanisms – A comprehensive system of oversight and accountability must exist to monitor medical institutions and their personnel.
• Legal reforms – The legal system requires implementing reforms which enable victims along with their families to pursue justice through unrestricted access while safeguarding them from intimidation.
• Enhanced training and ethical Standards – The healthcare system needs better training programs for medical staff to develop empathy together with their existing diligence and responsibility.
• Public awareness campaigns – Campaign strategies should be implemented to educate citizens on their rights and the channels available for reporting malpractice.

This is not a partisan plea. It is a human one. Our mission is to restore dignity to our healthcare system while ensuring no Ghanaian loses a family member because of inadequate care or delayed response or unmet responsibilities.
I share my personal suffering, yet I do this from a position of optimism. Under your leadership Ghana will face this challenge with courage compassion and conviction to rise.
Because silence is complicity—and I refuse to be silent anymore.
Respectfully,
