The second batch of some 795 Community Protection Assistants (CPAa) have graduated from the Volta Regional Police Training school in Ho.

The 795 Community Protection Assistants recruited by the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) include 304 recruits drawn from across the Volta region, 145 and 346 from the Oti and Eastern regions.

After three weeks of intensive training, the Volta Regional Commander of Police, DCOP Mr Wisdom Akorli, said the recruits are ready to carry out basic policing task that will ensure prevention of crime, protection and peace.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer of YEA, Finance and Administration, Prisca Sedinam Kekeshie, who graced the passing-out ceremony urged the graduates to serve with integrity while protecting the image of the YEA.

She indicated that the YEA in its bid to ensure sustainability, is working on a comprehensive exit plan for the CPAs. The Deputy CEO also commended the Ghana Police Service for their professionalism and dedication towards the program.

Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, who served as the reviewing officer for the ceremony, noted that the Community Protection Assistant module is a reflection of the Mahama administration’s commitment to youth empowerment.

He said, “this program spearheaded by the Youth Empowerment Agency in partnership with the Ghana Police Service reflects government’s commitment to empowering the youth. I urge you to serve with humility and professionalism earning the trust of the communities you have sworn to serve.”

“And as we pursue the agenda of making the Volta region the best investment destination, your coming or passing out at this particular moment is a welcoming news,” he emphasized.

Earlier this month, the first batch of 945 CPAs from the three regions graduated from the Regional Police Training school in Ho.
