A three-bedroom self-contained house and four chamber-and-hall apartments have been destroyed by fire at Kokompe, a suburb of Darkuman in the Greater Accra Region.
The timely intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) helped salvage adjoining properties, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The GNFS states that the incident occurred around mid-morning on Sunday, August 31, 2025, destroying the aforementioned residential buildings.
According to the Service, it received a distress call at 9:09 a.m., prompting the immediate dispatch of two fire engines at 9:10 a.m.
A statement issued by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the GNFS for the Greater Accra Region, ADO I Lewis Pagfu states that the first crew from the Industrial Area arrived at 9:22 a.m. and brought the fire under control at 10:10 a.m.
“With reinforcement from the Headquarters team, the fire was fully extinguished at 11:51 a.m.,” the statement added.
