At Wonkayaw, a community in Dambai in the Krachi East municipality of the Oti region, a man identified as Emmanuel Addai, has allegedly bitten off his wife’s ear during a violent altercation.

According to the 46-year-old victim, Cecilia Fordjour, the husband had returned from a funeral in the area to meet her and the children, shortly after she had prepared food for the family.

She says the husband, without any provocation, asked her to leave the house immediately, as she was arranging to serve him food.

She further claimed that the situation escalated and her husband allegedly attacked her, biting off her ear in the process.

Madam Fordjour recounted that she was taken to a private health facility, the KOPAH Clinic, with the severed ear where she was told the delay in seeking medical care would not make a reattachment possible.

Meanwhile, the Krachi East Police Command has launched investigation into the matter following a report of the matter.

The Dambai Command Divisional Crime Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Al-hassan Abdul-Rzak, confirmed the incident to the GNA.

ASP Abdul-Rzak explained that the woman lodged a complaint at the station, after which her husband also filed a counter-complaint, alleging he had also been assaulted. “Medical forms were issued to both individuals,” he said.

He added that investigations would commence once both parties had been discharged from hospital. “The Police will then review the medical reports and gather further evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” ASP Abdu-Rzak stated.
