The planning committee in charge of health for the funeral of the late Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III has announced a comprehensive health programme during her funeral.
During the funeral which takes place from September 15 to 18, many doctors and nurses will be deployed to man mobile clinics that will be set up at the funeral grounds.
The move is to prepare for any eventuality that may occur during the funeral which is expected to be attended by thousands of Ghanaians from across the country as well as foreign dignitaries.
The Funeral Planning Committe, which comprises heads of the Red Cross Society, the Waste Management Department, the Metro-Health Directorate and the ambulance services, has pledged to ensure an incident-free event as far as the health and safety of attendees are concerned.

The Chairman of committee in charge of health, sanitation and waste for the funeral, Nana Professor Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II, said they are expecting people from all walks of life, therefore the committee has instituted measures for the safety of mourners.

He appealed to attendees to help prevent accidents. He said the mini clinic will be located at Manhyia Museum, Manhyia Palace Administration area, Asantehemaa’s residence area and Manhyia Government Hospital.
“Our charge is to ensure that Kumasi is clean, safe and devoid of filth on the streets. We have charged all the environmental health officers to intensify house to house inspections and precautions. If they see any filth, they should make sure it is cleared, ” Nana Woahene II said.
He also encouraged people to eat before coming for the funeral.
