One person has been confirmed dead in an accident at Nkanfoa Junction on the Accra – Cape Coast highway at the forenoon of Saturday, September 13, 2025.

The accident involves an articulated truck with with registration number AW 3475-21 and a sprinter bus.

The Rescue Team from the Central Regional Headquarters of the Ghana National Fire Service responded to the incident after receiving information at its office.

According to a statement released by the Service, the fire crew arrived at the scene at 10: 24 a.m. to observe a long vehicle loaded with bales of ‘secondhand’ clothing, lying on its passenger side.

According to the driver of the truck, he was traveling from Accra to Abidjan and swerved into the side of the road when he attempted avoiding the overtaking Sprinter bus.

The GNFS says a Towing Truck was engaged to recover the truck for further search and rescue by the fire rescue team.

During the search, the team discovered that one victim was buried in the sand under the truck.

The victim, who is a male, according to the Service, was retrieved and handed over to the Ghana Police Service who deposited the body at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
