The Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang says persons who engage in child abuse and gender-based violence should be made to face the law.
She lamented the irresponsible nature being exhibited by many men at the workplace.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang said this on Wednesday, October 1 after the Gender Minister Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey said her outfit is collaborating with the Ghana Police Service to get the Assistant Headmaster of the KNUST Senior High School arrested.

The Assistant Headmaster of KNUST Senior High School was seen in a viral video with a student in a sexually compromised position.
‘’…Of recent is the report of the 13-year-old girl with the Assistant Headmaster. Even though the school dismissed or suspended the head we are collaborating with the police to effect the arrest of the man, the perpetrator. In our 16 days of activism, we will use the month of October to highlight some of these issues, hold more community engagement for the general public to know and understand what abuse is,’’ she said.

The Vice President said people must be made to account for sexual and other abuses.
‘’This has happened, it’s not good news, and it’s also a question of power….some of us are not paying attention to the nature of responsibility given to us. Maybe not only in the schools, the workplace. So public education is important and holding people to account is also very important.’’

The Vice President, as part of plans, is expected to visit the various ministries to get firsthand information. She has already been to the Health and Education ministries.
The Gender Ministry is the third and the sector minister, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey in briefing the Vice President said her outfit is doing a lot to address gender and children’s issues.

Some of them include to increase the school feeding grant from the current 2 cedis. She noted that since the grant was increased from the previous 1.50 pesewas to 2 cedis, the quality has improved and hopes to further increase it.
Naa Momo Lartey also said school feeding caterers are no longer owed. She indicated that the establishment of the Women Development Bank would be grand as seed money had been received from the finance ministry.
The Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang assured the minister and her staff of government’s support.
The Vice President later launched the 2025 breast cancer awareness month and commemoration of international day of older persons.

She entreated women to continually check their breast noting early detection saves lives.
