The new Bono Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Kwame Baah Mensa, and his team have been formally introduced to the Sunyanimanhene, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II.
Mr. Kwame Baah Mensa thanked the Omanhene for the warm welcome and praised Sunyani for its cleanliness and hospitality.
He announced plans to renovate the stadium into a recreational facility to help Sunyani host more sporting events, and he promised not to focus only on soccer but to develop all sports disciplines.
The new Regional Director requested the Traditional Council’s support in identifying local sports talents and pledged to work hand-in-hand with the Traditional Council.
Mr. Ransford Antwi (Chairman, Lands & Project Committee) advised the NSA Director to prioritize hiring natives of Sunyani for jobs, especially for maintaining the sports pitch.
He recommended that the revenue generated from renting spaces around the stadium should be used for its maintenance.
Mr. Ransford Antwi urged the NSA to give former world champion, Yaw Konadu a proper role in recognition of his contributions to sports development in Sunyani and Ghana.
Sunyanimanhene, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen KorKor II strongly advised the Director not to work against the local football clubs, BA United and Bofoakwa Tano. The Omanhene stated that collaborating with them is essential for the Director’s success and prosperity in the region.
He urged the NSA to build confidence in the youth, produce champion athletes for Sunyani, and sensitize parents to support their children’s involvement in sports.
He expressed displeasure with the current state of the VIP stands at the Sunyani Coronation Park and demanded immediate action.
Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen KorKor II tasked the Director to produce great sportsmen and women for Sunyani during his tenure.
The Omanhene pledged his full support to the new Regional Director to ensure his success.
