The National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced to all members that the Ad Hoc Committee constituted by the Council to oversee the conduct of the presidential campaigns has commenced its work.
In a statement issued on Thursday, October 9, 2025, the Committee noted that it has begun monitoring comments, actions, and public engagements of aspirants and their campaign representatives.
The Committee, chaired by Ing. Dr. Kwasi Abeasi aims to ensure a “peaceful, respectful, and issue-based campaign in line with the values and traditions of the party” ahead of the NPP’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
“Members of the Party, supporters, and the general public are encouraged that if they come across any utterance, conduct, or social media post— by any candidate, spokesperson, or member of a campaign team— that is deemed offensive, divisive, or capable of inciting disunity within the Party, they should promptly refer the matter to the Committee,” the statement added.
According to the Council of Elders, such referrals should be accompanied by credible evidence and may be made either in writing or through direct communication via phone call or WhatsApp.
The Council stressed that the unity and cohesion of the NPP remain of utmost importance, not only during the primaries but throughout the lead-up to the 2028 general elections.
“All aspirants and their teams are advised to be mindful of their statements and actions during the campaign period,” the Council warned.
“Let us all work together in the spirit of discipline, respect, and solidarity to ensure a peaceful and united NPP ready for victory in 2028.”
