The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, in partnership with the Ghana Tourism Authority, has officially launched the 2025 edition of “December in Ghana”, a flagship initiative aimed at showcasing Ghana’s rich cultural heritage to the world, while fostering stronger ties between Ghanaians and the diaspora.
The grand launch took place at the Jubilee House in Accra and was led by the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Julius Debrah.

Speaking at the event, Julius Debrah emphasized the importance of the initiative as part of the government’s broader agenda to reset and transform the creative and tourism sectors.

He described December in Ghana as a strategic vehicle to boost economic growth and eco-tourism.
“This initiative is more than a celebration. It’s a key part of our national development strategy. We urge all Ghanaians to support this vision to build a stronger, tourism-driven economy,” the Chief of Staff stated.
Also speaking at the launch, the Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, highlighted the environmental theme of this year’s celebration. She noted that sustainability is at the heart of this year’s activities, calling on Ghanaians to commit to protecting the environment during and beyond the festive period.
“This year’s December in Ghana is centered on environmental sustainability. We are urging everyone to help maintain a clean, healthy environment as we celebrate our heritage,” Dzifa Gomashie noted.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto noted that events like December in Ghana are critical to national development, especially for the private sector.
She emphasized the potential for job creation, tourism growth, and increased economic activity.
“These events not only boost tourism but also open up significant opportunities for private businesses and local entrepreneurs,” she said.
Renowned musician and cultural advocate, Rex Omar also lent his support to the initiative, describing it as a platform to create lasting memories and celebrate Ghana’s cultural legacy.
“December in Ghana is here to create historic moments and strengthen our national identity,” Rex Omar stressed.

With a full calendar of cultural events, festivals, concerts, and heritage tours, December in Ghana 2025 is set to attract thousands of visitors from across the globe reaffirming Ghana’s position as a leading destination for cultural tourism in Africa.
