The Heath Goldfields Limited has issued a rebuttal against what it calls “baseless and malicious” publications, affirming its compliance with a worker payment agreement and vowing to sue for defamation.

In a statement dated November 4, 2025, the company categorically denied the allegations of non-payment and mismanagement.

The statement comes in response to what the company describes as “misleading and carefully coordinated publications” concerning a group identifying itself as “former workers of the Bogoso-Prestea Mine.”

In its press release, the Company expressed “grave concern” over the reports, which alleged irregular operations and failure to pay former employees. ”

Central to the company’s rebuttal is the reference to a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) established with the Ghana Mine Workers Union on August 8, 2025.

The company stated that this MoU specifically “governs the schedule and framework for the payment of legacy employee benefits and obligations.” It expressed disappointment that the media outlets in question did not attempt to verify these facts with the Union or the Company itself before publishing.

“Heath Goldfields has been strictly adhering to this MoU, and payments are being made progressively in accordance with the agreed timelines and under the Union’s supervision,” the statement read. It further emphasized the company’s “full commitment to honouring all legitimate obligations to both current and former employees.”

Reiterating its corporate ethos, the company described itself as a “credible, compliant, and law-abiding mining company committed to responsible resource development, transparency, and sustainable operations.” It highlighted its ongoing collaboration with the Government of Ghana, regulatory agencies, labour unions, and host communities.
