The government has announced that a State funeral will be held for the late former First Lady, Mrs Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra.
The ceremony, to be held under the auspices of President John Dramani Mahama, will honour Mrs Rawlings for her invaluable contributions to the advancement of women’s and children’s rights and her enduring commitment to national development.
In a statement issued on Thursday, November 6, 2025, Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu said the state funeral would celebrate Mrs Rawlings’ lifelong dedication to public service.
Nana Konadu died at the Ridge Hospital in Accra on October 23, 2025 aged 76 after a short illness. Mrs Rawlings was the founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement and first Ghanaian lady to contest Presidency.
She is survived by four children- Zanetor, Amina, Yaa Asantewaa and Kimathi Rawlings.
