The Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal Assembly has undertaken an emergency reshaping of the Humjebre–Akwaso road following a series of robbery attacks on commuters and traders who ply the route.

The road, which connects several communities including Baakokrom, Humjebre, and Akwaso to Bekwai and the Amenfi West District, had deteriorated over the years, making it difficult and unsafe for motorists.

Its poor condition reportedly created opportunities for armed robbers to ambush unsuspecting travelers, heightening insecurity along the stretch.

Reshaping Regraveling road

In response to recent robbery incidents, the Municipal Chief Executive, Sebastian Obeng, mobilized resources to grade and reshape the road to improve accessibility and enhance security.

He said the intervention was a temporary measure to make the road motorable while awaiting a full construction contract.

Residents, traders, and drivers who regularly use the road have praised the Assembly’s swift response. They believe the improved condition will not only ease transportation and reduce vehicle breakdowns but also help curb the frequent robbery attacks that have terrorized commuters in recent weeks.

They further appealed to the government to prioritize the full construction of the Humjebre–Akwaso road to ensure a lasting solution to their challenges.
