The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and Ghana Police Service are conducting a simultaneous, targeted, and intelligence-led joint swoops in the Ashanti, Volta, and Ahafo regions.
The swoops, which took place on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, covered Dadwene and Anwona in the Ashanti region, Ehi in the Volta region, and Hwediem, Kenyase, Guaso, and Marhani in the Ahafo region.

According to a statement signed by Veronica Adzo Arhin, Captain, Ghana Navy, who is the Acting Director General of Public Affairs for the Ghana Armed Forces, and issued on Wednesday, the operation was aimed at arresting individuals suspected to be involved in the attack on NAIMOS and journalists in the above mentioned areas.
“The operations which started at dawn today, Wednesday 12 November 2025 at all the locations aim at arresting identified persons involved in the recent attacks on members of the National Anti-llegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) team, some Police officers and officials of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) including journalists,” portions of the statement indicated.
The statement further warned the general public that persons who attempt to impede operations of anti-galamsey agencies in the country will be made to face the full rigours of the law.
“The Armed Forces and the Police Service warn that any individual or group that attempts to obstruct the operations of any of the security services in their anti-galamsey operations or in the performance of any other lawful duty, will face the full force of the law.”
Meanwhile, the police and military are assuring residents along the mining areas where galamsey is ongoing to remain calm as measures are in place to ensure they are safe.
“The Armed Forces and the Police Service wish to assure the general public that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and security of well-meaning inhabitants of these towns and communities. They are encouraged to remain calm and go about their regular duties without fear or panic,” it added.
The statement further lauded the public for the outright condemnation of the attack on the NAIMOS and journalists, counting on them to support operations of the security forces in curbing the illegal mining menace.
“The Security Services commend civil society groups, the media and individuals for the massive condemnation on the unwarranted attacks and disruption of activities of the security forces in their anti-galamsey drive and counts on the continuous cooperation of the general public.”
