A self-acclaimed fetish priest and a suspected armed robber, Victor Biney, popularly known as Mallam, Nana, or Abeiku, has been arrested by the Juaboso District Police Command.
His arrest was due to a violent attack on miners in an attempted robbery at Sehwi Antobia in the Juaboso District of the Western North region.
According to reports, the self-acclaimed fetish priest, together with his accomplices, went to one of the mining sites in the area to rob the miners. In that attempt, the police had a tip-off and quickly rushed to the scene and were able to arrest the leader of the group – Victor Biney.
Some talismans, a firearm, AAA cartridges, flashlights, knives, and other items were retrieved from the suspect.
Further reports revealed that, the said suspect is multiply involved in robbery activities in the area, and has a robbery case at the Bibiani Circuit Court pending judgement on December 9, 2025.
He is also said to have allegedly initiated some young men into money rituals and black powers – powers for guns and cutlasses’ resistance.
About 2 years ago, there was a daylight robbery in the Juaboso township where it was alleged that Biney and his team were the masterminds behind that robbery. One person was shot dead in the operation and took away a huge sum of money from the wholesale shop.
After his arrest on Monday, November 17, 2025, he was arraigned at the Juaboso Magistrate’s Court, and has since been remanded into police custody for two weeks.
