Legal practitioner, Martin Luther Kpebu, has described the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) publication of its achievements under Kissi Agyebeng’s leadership as a diversionary tactic aimed at shifting public attention.

Kpebu believes the OSP has been associated with negative news, including petitions seeking William Kissi Agyebeng’s removal as the Special Prosecutor, prompting the office to highlight its achievements and change the narrative.

The OSP on Monday, December 1, 2025, made a publication on its Facebook page, titled; ‘What they don’t want you to know about the OSP’. It was also indicated in the post that “the truth is dangerous to those who thrive in the dark.”

In its post, the OSP stated that it has made significant achievements in 2025, which has sparked widespread discussion about the office. The OSP attributed the criticism it has received to its accomplishments, implying that its successes have prompted the attacks.

“In 2025, the Office of the Special Prosecutor didn’t just shine a light; we dragged the darkness out for everyone to see. That is why the noise is growing. That is why you are seeing coordinated attacks.”

It went on to ask why the attacks are coming at this moment, saying it is “because we touched the untouchable. The OSP’s 2025 caseload didn’t go for the small fish; it struck at the heart of the machinery:

● SML Revenue Assurance
● MIIF Investment Irregularities
● Petroleum Diversion & The NPA-UFFP Scandal
● Illicit Enrichment.”

According to the post, the recent talks about the OSP is meant to distract the public.

“When corruption is disrupted, those who feed on the system panic. When the faucet of stolen public funds is twisted shut, the outcry grows louder than the facts. They shout to distract you. They blur the evidence to make you doubt. But the numbers do not lie.”

It went on to state some of the achievements the Office has made throughout the period when it was facing a lot of criticism.

“While they were talking, we were working to save the soul of this nation:

● The Savings: We prevented a projected national loss of GHC 5.73 Billion. That is money kept in your schools, your roads, and your hospitals.
● The Recoveries: We clawed back GHC 6.5 Million and US$ 2 Million, and seized over GHC 102 Million in assets.
● The Justice: We advanced 71 full investigations, opened 40 new cases, and secured 7 convictions.
● The Future: We expanded education to 9.4 million Ghanaians, arming you with the knowledge to demand accountability.

It concluded that the attacks aren’t because the OSP is not living up to its mandate but rather because those involved in corrupt practices are being exposed.

“It is not because the OSP is failing. It is because the old networks of impunity are finally breaking under pressure. The fear you see is not about performance—it is about power slipping from the hands of those who misused it.”

Responding to the publication on TV3’s Ghana Tonight on Monday, December 1, 2025, Martin Kpebu, who is seeking to present a petition to demand the removal of William Kissi Agyebeng, indicated that he is not doing any good job as being preached.

He says the OSP is rather diverting attention from the bad publicity surrounding the administration, the reason the post was made.

“Kissi Agyebeng is not doing any good job with the OSP. In the first place, let’s point out that it’s a diversionary tactic. They know that today the major news has been that 3 petitions have been presented for the removal of Kissi Agyebeng, which petitions the President has forwarded to Chief Justice Baffoe-Bonnie, which I have also mentioned that I’ll present my own. So it’s been a very bad day for them so it’s a way to divert our attention, that has forced them to publish this achievement,” Kpebu stated.

Meanwhile, the Minister in Charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has said the petitions will be handled in accordance with the laws of the land.
