The Management of Ghana Water Ltd. (GWL), Accra West Region, has announced to its customers and the public that water production at the Weija Treatment Plant will be halted temporarily to allow for repair works on a faulty pipeline on Thursday, 4th December, 2025.

A statement dated December 2 explained that one of the major pipelines bringing water from the Treatment Plant to the western parts of Accra,
has developed serious perforations which can cause the pipeline to give way if immediate action is not taken to repair it.

“Details of the shutdown are as follows: Date: Thursday, December 4th 2025 Time: 6:00am to 6:00pm,” the statement indicated.

It listed the affected areas as: Korle-Bu, Dansoman, Mamprobi, Parts of Weija, Gbawe, Malam, Anyaa, Kwashieman, Ablekuma, Darkuman. Kaneshie, Tesano, Odorkor, Sowutuom, Lapaz, parts of Achimota, North Industrial Area, and adjoining communities.

The Ghana Water Company said, “While we assure customers of resumption of production as soon as the work is completed,  we also encourage them to store water ahead of the shutdown. We regret the inconvenience that may arise as a result of the shutdown,” Solace Akomeah, Communication Manager – GWL Accra West Region wrote.
