Embattled Member of Parliament for Kpandai, Matthew Nyindam, believes the Tamale High Court’s ruling for a rerun to be undertaken in his constituency is an orchestration by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The Tamale High Court on Monday, November 24, 2025, upheld a petition filed by the NDC parliamentary candidate for Kpandai, Daniel Nsala Wakpal, who argued that the December 7, 2024, election was marred by significant irregularities. The court subsequently ordered a rerun within 30 days, a ruling that has sparked fierce reactions from the Minority.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nyindam has insisted that the election was conducted fairly, unlike what the court and the NDC are portraying to the public.

He tells Accra-based Joy FM on Thursday, December 11, 2025, that the court erred in calling for a rerun in its ruling.

“I can tell you without any fear of contradiction that nothing went wrong with the election. We have gone to the Court of Appeal to challenge the ruling, but they are not allowing me to even contest the decision,” he stated.

He says the declaration of the seat by the Speaker of Parliament as vacant is premature, noting that cases related to the election are still pending at the Supreme Court, scheduled for December 16 and 18, 2025.

Nyindam says the EC’s plan to organise a rerun while the matter is still at the Supreme Court shows the entire development is an orchestration.

“Then the Electoral Commission comes out with a date for a rerun. You see how they have planned this. It is a planned thing,” he added, blaming the NDC for the alleged manipulation.

He, however, expressed optimism for the upcoming contest despite his criticism of the rerun.

“I am not worried. I am waiting for the 30th. The people of Kpandai who voted for me in the 2024 election believe that I can represent them,” he said.

The Electoral Commission has scheduled the rerun of the Kpandai Constituency Parliamentary Election for Tuesday, December 30, 2025. This follows a ruling by the Tamale High Court on Monday, November 24, 2025, which ordered the rerun to take place within thirty days.

The Commission also received formal notification from the Clerk of Parliament on Monday, December 8, 2025, confirming that the parliamentary seat for Kpandai has officially become vacant.
