A new poll by survey house, Global InfoAnalytics, ahead of the upcoming election rerun in Kpandai has revealed that voters in the region have not decisively opted to vote for the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) parliamentary candidate.
This is despite an overwhelming approval of President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership and optimism about the country’s direction by indigenes of the constituency.
The survey brought out some striking consensus on national issues, with a significant 66% of voters saying Ghana is headed in the right direction. Also, 64% said they approve of President Mahama’s job performance so far.
“Overall, voters in the Kpandai constituency believe Ghana is headed in the right direction,” the polls disclosed.
Despite the strong backing of the locals for the President and his works so far, the NDC’s parliamentary candidate hopeful, Daniel Nsala Wakpal, is not getting the same approval by the residents.
The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate, Matthew Nyindam, is polling 50% against Wakpal’s 46%, with the disconnect rooted in local priorities.
Residents have disclosed, during the survey that their votes are mostly going to be influenced by jobs (34%), economy (18%), and roads (15%).
These issues, the residents, as the election nears, will be used as the yardstick to weigh the candidates’ records and promises.
“The top issues which will influence voters’ choice on whom they would vote for are jobs, economy, and roads,” the poll summary stated.
Overall, 1,065 voters were sampled between December 11 and 13, 2025, with 3% of them being undecided. This percentage will be the key target for both candidates in the final stretch of the campaign.
The Kpandai seat was declared vacant by Parliament after the Tamale High Court on Monday, November 24, 2025, upheld a petition filed by the NDC parliamentary candidate for Kpandai, Daniel Nsala Wakpal, who argued that the December 7, 2024, election was marred by significant irregularities.
The court subsequently ordered a rerun within 30 days, a ruling that has sparked fierce reactions from the Minority.
The final survey by GlobalInfoAnalytics is scheduled for December 25-28, just days before voters return to the polls to determine if their positive national outlook will ultimately benefit the NDC’s local candidate.
