Before gifting Ghana top-notch journalism, he almost took a different stage: acting! Godwin Asediba, whose passion for public storytelling led him from aspiring actor to award-winning journalist says.
Recounting his experience at the BBC, on the Afternoon Show on TV3, on December 22, the 2025 BBC Komla Dumor Awardee shared how his passion for public storytelling pushed him to audition for quite a number of roles in his time at the Ghana Institute of journalism.
With a career marked by impactful stories and recognitions, The GJA Journalist of the Year credits his storytelling flair to his early dreams of acting. “The passion for public storytelling was key. I also remember my experience with an advertising agency as well”, he says, explaining his shift to journalism.
He’s made a name for himself in Ghana’s media landscape, but it wasn’t always clear-cut. ‘I had wanted to become an actor,’ he reveals, showcasing the creative spark behind his journalism. Now, he crafts stories that speak to many.
With a career blending storytelling and impact, Godwin shows how passion can shape paths. His journey is a reminder: sometimes the scripts we don’t follow lead to the greatest headlines.
